Whoop! Whoop! The 2022 Oscars is making history this awards season! For the first time EVER, three women will host the ceremony! Regina Hall (Girls Trip), Amy Schumer (I Feel Pretty) and Wanda Sykes (The Upshaws, Curb Your Enthusiasm) are taking over Hollywood’s biggest night. This is HUGE! The live event hasn’t had a host in three years. The last host was ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel in 2018.
Hall, Schumer, and Sykes will not share the spotlight. They will split hosting duties. Each star will host an hour of the show. The talented trio has what it takes to make watching this year’s Academy Awards a “must-see” TV event. All three actresses are fun, entertaining and have a comedic background.
There’s a changing of the guard in the producer’s chair. The Academy snagged Emmy nominated producer Will Packard. This will be the powerhouse producer’s first time working with the Oscars. The Hollywood blockbuster film-maker plans to create an entertaining experience for movie lovers.
The Academy Awards ceremony is going big and glam with an in-person affair. The Oscars is back at the Dolby Theater with a star-studded red carpet. Last year, it was at Los Angeles’ Union Station with limited capacity and pandemic restrictions.
The Academy is adding another twist to boost ratings and engage viewers. Twitter users can vote for their favorite movie using the hashtag #OscarsFanFavorite. Fans can vote for any movie released in 2021. The winning film will be revealed live on the show. Voting runs through March 3. And that’s not all…The Academy will also select three Twitter voters to present an Oscar award at next year’s ceremony.
