Aww sooky-sooky now! Peacock is dropping a new retro-crime miniseries with some 1970s realness. Grab some snacks and watch Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, now streaming on the popular NBC Universal entertainment platform.

The limited drama series, produced by Will Packer (Girls Trip, Night School), will transport you ringside to Muhammad Ali’s historic comeback match in Atlanta and immerse you in the high stakes afterparty where a notorious armed robbery takes place.

Peacock’s original miniseries is based on iHeart’s true-crime podcast about this infamous moment in time. To bring this series to life, a force of creative talent was needed.

Ding! Ding! In round one, an elite cast of celebs are assembled to portray the characters in this true story. The star-studded lineup includes Kevin Hart (Chicken Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Frank Moten), Taraji P. Henson (Vivian Thomas), Don Cheadle (Detective JD Hudson) and Terrence Howard (Cadillac Richie) topped with guest star appearances by Chloe Bailey (Lena Mosley), and Lori Harvey (Lola Falana).

Prepare to visually flashback to the stylistic groove of the 70s. Fashion swag will fill your screen with wide collar shirts, maxi coats, platform shoes, bell-bottoms, afros and perms. The flamboyant threads, rolling around in slick Cadillacs add to the authentic vibe of the series.

The cinematic use of split screens with the old-school R&B soundtrack is nothing short of fi-yah shuug-a! It’s engaging and elevates the viewing experience.

Peacock nails it! The streamer’s original miniseries Fight Night dials up the 70s vibe with flare. It’s artistically pleasing and captivating. It stars a mix of A-listers and several other solid heavy-hitting actors who all rocked their roles.

This throwback series has several rounds of a theatrical one-two punch. On one hand, the struggles of Black people in that era are on full display. The make or break moments, the hustle, crime bosses, violence, and living in a troubled city are the layered realities of Atlanta. And on the other hand, is hope of prosperity with the possibility of a booming metropolis.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is an eight-part, intense crime drama with dark laughable moments. Overall, the series is entertaining and sho’ nuff worth a watch. Check it out. It’s streaming exclusively on Peacock.
