Jennifer Hudson is Youngest Ever EGOT winner

The highlight of the 2022 Tony Awards was American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson being crowned the queen of all entertainment awards. On Sunday night, 40-year-old JHud became the youngest person ever to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony, elevating her to EGOT status. Only 17 other entertainers have won the quadruple crown of entertainment industry awards.

She won a Tony for her producer role in the musical, A Strange Loop.

Growing up in Chicago, this Glow Girl had dreams of making it big as a singer. But when she competed on American Idol in 2004, Simon Cowell tried to play a sister big time, famously saying: “You’re out of your depth in this competition.”

Oh, but how the Lord don’t like ugly. Jennifer when on to make several bestselling albums and star in some of the biggest movies of this generation, including Dreamgirls, the Sex & The City movie and Respect, handpicked by Aretha Franklin herself to portray the Queen of Soul in the biopic.

Jennifer’s books and even her weight-loss journey have also been major successes.

Her story is a testimony for when someone with a big fancy job title or so-called industry cred tells you that you can’t or that you’re not good enough, just keep going and prove them wrong by showing them that you can!
