When Taylor Swift announced in an Instagram post last night that she is a childless cat lady who is throwing her support behind Kamala Harris for president, no one saw it coming. Fresh off the presidential debate stage, the Harris campaign even admitted that they didn’t know that the endorsement was going to happen, according to Pod Save America.
Earlier this year, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that Swift’s attendance at Kansas City Chiefs games to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce has had a positive effect on the game, as ratings increased to the tune of 50 millions viewers who watched the Chiefs face off against the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs. Can the so-called “Taylor Swift Effect” also influence politics and send a wave of Swifties to the polls? Only time will tell.

Ariana Grande
She may have shown her behind by licking donuts and sticking the baker with the bill in the early 2000s, but that was a long time ago and Ariana Grande has grown since then. No longer the brat that she once was in her Sam & Cat days, the child star turned Wicked pop star has gone from saying things like, “I hate America” to supporting a voter registration drive and encouraging her fans to vote. With Ariana’s new eye on civic engagement also comes an endorsement for Harris for president.
Liz Cheney
She’s the Republican congresswoman from Wyoming who was chair of the January 6th Committee and daughter of Bush 43’s Vice President Dick Cheney, who’s infamous for accidentally shooting his friend in the face on a hunting trip. He has also thrown his support behind Harris, who announced in last night’s debate that she’s a gun owner, too.
