Whoopi, Sheryl & Keke Sign on to ‘Sister Act 3,’ but Where is Lauryn Hill?

Sister Act fans get ready! Hallelujah! The third movie sequel is finally on the way! That’s right, prayers are being answered with the new follow-up film Sister Act 3.

Excitement for the future movie release is at an all-time high. Buzz about the third installment gained even more momentum, after a cast reunion episode for the 30th anniversary of Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit aired recently on The View.

Stars of the film Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Monica Calhoun and other key cast alumni graced the stage of the daytime talk show. Whoopi appeared dressed as her iconic character Sister Mary Clarence, ready to direct members from the original cast of the star-studded choir.

Viewers were gifted a mini concert showcasing the movie’s memorable songs Oh Happy Day and Joyful, Joyful which featured standout solo performances by Ryan Toby (Ahmal) and Tanya Blount Trotter.

The televised reunion was a super tease for fans, pulling lovers of the classic franchise a step closer to the upcoming release of the next chapter.

Sister Act 3 will spotlight a few notable changes. First, Tyler Perry and Whoopi Goldberg serve as dual producers. New celebs are joining the cast like Keke Palmer.

Finally, the long-awaited sequel will premiere on Disney+ instead of a traditional theatrical release. The bottom line, it won’t matter when or where the comedy sequel debuts. Fans are on standby ready to support another unforgettable movie in the Sister Act franchise.

No word yet on why the iconic Lauryn Hill will not be reprising her role as Rita in Sister Act 3. Do then fans want to see L-Boogie make a comeback to the movie screen? Let us know in the comments.
