Finally, DC Comics is back in action! The debut of Black Adam hit a HUGE milestone.
The highly anticipated film topped the box-office at $67 million domestically in its opening weekend. The superhero movie also marks Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s biggest domestic open as a leading man.
Black Adam’s box-office smackdown proves Johnson is more than rock solid as the star of this film. The wrestler-turned-actor is suited in a role tailored perfectly for him.
Black Adam begins with the origin story. In short, this anti-hero was known as Teth-Adam. He was an enslaved person who was given amazing powers. After his family was killed and issues in his town, Adam misused his powers for revenge. Oh, and got put on lock-down for about 5,000 years.
Well, in modern day, Adam is free with even more rage. Let’s just say, the anti-hero has embraced a solo vengeance mindset.
Dwayne Johnson, the “people’s champ” lobbied for years to get Black Adam on the big screen. His hard work puts the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) franchise front and center.
Black Adam has a lot of the hot ticket items for a blockbuster superhero movie. It’s full of non-stop action, fantasy and it’s entertaining. Oh, and then there’s the element of surprise. Be sure to stay seated and pay attention to the scene following the end credits!
The movie has great casting! Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centieno) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) are powerful heroic characters that makeup The Justice Society.
Black Adam isn’t your typical superhero. His larger-than-life and fascinating persona draws you in making him a great addition to the DC Comics movie lineup.
Black Adam is currently showing only in theaters and Imax.
