Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown strike comedy gold in their new film Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. Buckle up! This comedy-satire is a wild ride!
Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. centers around Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown) and his wife, Trinitie Childs (Hall) trying to regain their congregation after a scandal forces their Southern Baptist megachurch to temporarily close.
The mockumentary-style movie is the perfect canvas for Hall’s signature comedic talents. The Girls Trip star knocks it out the park with her stylized portrayal of a ride or die preacher’s wife and illustrious First Lady.
Brown does an impressive 360 degree flip from his tear-jerker role as Randall Pearson. The Emmy-Award-winning, This Is Us star showcases his funny side as a narcissistic, over-the-top Pastor working on a comeback after falling from grace.
The masterminds behind Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. are a mix of newcomers and heavy hitters. Making their feature directorial debut are twin sisters Adamma and Adanne Ebo. The movie is inspired by Adamma’s 2018 short film. Their movie debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and received rave reviews. Rounding out the star-powered production team is Oscar nominee, Daniel Kaluuya of 59% Productions and Executive Producer, Jordan Peele with Monkeypaw Productions.
Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. is full of hilarious moments. Brown and Hall are a dynamic duo who understood the assignment. Their chemistry is outstanding and it’s fun to watch. The movie is relatable. It approaches the underlying story of community, culture and megachurch-life with unique layers of comedy and entertaining touches of drama. Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. premieres in theaters and streams on Peacock September 2.
