Jacqueline Lara is a third generation entrepreneur and first generation Ugandan American. Her grandmother was the Madame C.J. Walker of Uganda. She developed original haircare products and owned a salon that became so popular and profitable, that her grandmother was able to invest the money she made from her salon into real estate.
Among her grandmother’s clients were the First Lady and Queen of Uganda in 1965. Jacqueline grew up hearing stories from her mother about how the Ugandan Queen’s Rolls-Royce would pull up to her grandmother’s beauty salon on the weekends for hair appointments. See the photos below.
