If you’ve read any of my past blogs, then you know that I’m far from perfect. If this is your first time reading any of my writing or you need a refresher scroll down to the bottom and check out some of my past faves. In Waiting for the Storm to Pass, I candidly share about the mess that I made out of my life and redemption and grace that has been extended to me. I abused drugs for the greater part of my life, I’ve gotten arrested several times, and if it wouldn’t have been for the prayers of a loving family (especially my mother’s prayers), then I might’ve not made it out alive. I always had a surface-level relationship with my higher power, because of my addictions I came to know a loving God, one that forgives and is patient. The following is what I imagine God would say to me if He were to actually answer my lifelong prayers in an audible voice.

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do.
They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.” ~Matthew 6:7

Here we go again. You’re asking for the same things: guidance, direction, and confirmation, again. The answers are in that one little task I asked you to do, the same one that some of your mentors suggested, the one that keeps popping up in your feed, the very last thing on your to-do list. Complete that one task. The answers are there, they’ll serve as a road map, and you won’t have to come to ask me again. I created you to be a visual person; this will work for you. Your faith is strong, and so is your head.

You get agitated, and that’s why you pray repeatedly. I’m not ignoring you, I hear you, and the answer is still, “No.” When you subconsciously ask me in the back of your mind, I hear that too. AGAIN, the answer is no. I listen to you every night, throughout the week, and I hear you when you randomly decide to come to me (which is my favorite, by the way). It’s not that I’m ignoring you. Trust me, that thing you are praying for is not for you, especially right now. My timing is perfect, not yours. Remember, my “No” is your divine protection. You know that I’ve heard you say that hundreds of times to others. Sometimes your prayers go unanswered because it’s not what your heart desires or because things didn’t align with my will.

“For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds.
And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~Matthew 7:8

There’s work to do. I won’t tell you when the conditions will change. You have to continue walking in faith and trust that I know what I’m doing. If you would come to me more and depend on yourself less, things would be a lot easier. Nonetheless, I know you will always choose the most challenging route; that’s why I’ve buried extra treasures in the dark for you, my love. Please keep your eyes open and focus on me. We’ll get there together. I know it frustrates you when past failures start creeping back into your thoughts. This means that now is the time to come to a resolution. How much time have you wasted mentally solving problems that hadn’t come to fruition? If you haven’t noticed, I started to do work within you. This work will bring me glory. Do your part, and I’ll continue doing mine.

I’m surrounding you with blessings so people can see me, not spoil you. I know you struggle to discern between blessings and confirmations. The easiest way I can explain it to you would be like this: my gifts bring me and our kingdom glory, and my confirmations point you toward the next task I need you to complete, which will ultimately bring me glory well. Most good things aren’t going to happen because of your actions; you’ll glow up in spite of them.

Glow Up

“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body.
When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.” ~Matthew 6:22

I’m illuminating things in your life to help illuminate myself. I know you need constant confirmation, so I gave you a position at a company named The Glow Brands. You guys aspire to be a light and leave others inspired, just like me. How much more confirmation do you need? Don’t ever forget that I created you in my image; please don’t let this world tell you that you’re imperfect, too broken, or unworthy. There’s only one thing in this world that is perfect.

What would His response to your prayers sound like? Don’t forget to check me out next week; I have no idea what I will share with you; I can promise it’ll come from the heart, though.
