Well, hello there, and welcome back. As you’re about to see, I’ve changed up the format for this post. If you read my last blog (Triggered), then this post also falls in line with it. I invited my friends from Brown Counseling & Consulting in Lafayette, La., to shed some light on recovery, healing, and PTSD.
With all that being said, I would like to bring up a subject that I saw on one of our local news outlets KATC, which hits close to home. The Lafayette Mayor-President checked himself into rehab for alcoholism and untreated PTSD, and there were talks of him continuing “to give direction as necessary on city-parish matters” from the treatment facility. I think this is a terrible idea. I applaud his efforts to get better, and his focus should be just that getting better. I pray that while he is in treatment, he learns the necessary tools to remain sober and that he temporarily steps down from his position to truly heal.
